INDOCHINO is a made to measure company, but there can be a lot of confusion as to what that means and how it's different than bespoke.
Bespoke
Bespoke suiting is a fully custom process where a one-of-a-kind garment is made by a tailor that you work with directly. The whole process usually involves multiple appointments and takes months to complete. It is very labour intensive—and often very expensive.
With the bespoke process you are working with a tailor who drafts the pattern from scratch, then cuts and produces the suit in-house. Multiple fittings are required before the garment is produced, including a basted fitting, in which the tailor will make a mock-up of the suit with temporary stitching so they can translate changes directly to the pattern. Processes like these allow for extremely small changes to the fit and every part of the suit is customizable to the smallest detail/adjustment.
Made to Measure
At INDOCHINO we produce made to measure (or MTM) garments. Our MTM garments are custom-made based on measurements provided either by the customer, or taken by staff at one of our showrooms. Our showroom staff then makes adjustments to a base pattern at the showroom. If you measure at home, those measurements are put through an algorithm that does something similar to our base pattern.
This means that before the garments are produced there is only one set of measurements taken, (rather than the multiple sets it takes in the bespoke process). With bespoke, the alterations are built into the pattern while the suit is being constructed, whereas with MTM the garments are produced and can need some alterations once they arrive. At INDOCHINO, our Fit Promise gives you the ability to receive alterations after the garments have been produced so you can make sure they are perfect. You can read about our alterations policy here.
We offer a wide range of customization options to select from, but can't fulfill special pattern requests. Our systems are as efficient as possible to get your garments to you quickly and at the lowest cost possible. Once your fit is determined, we save it to your Fit Profile so you can reorder with the same measurements—and get the perfect fit every time.
